• If you are using these exercises in a university course, your instructor may have supplied site-specific Getting Started instructions. Furthermore, you may have also been given a pre-assigned account name (e.g., wustl14). Check with your instructor if you are unsure.
• Skip this step if you plan to use a pre-assigned account name.
  However, even if you have been given a pre-assigned account name (e.g., wustl32), you may want to use your own account because pre-assigned accounts are typically deleted at the end of the semester. Feel free to get a personal account by going to the ONL Web page and selecting the Get an account link in the side bar. Note that approvals are usually done only between 9 AM to 5 PM on business days unless prior arrangements have been made.
• Familiarize yourself with the main ONL web page ( http://onl.arl.wustl.edu).
• After getting an account, do the following:
  • Log into the ONL Web page.
  • Select the Getting Started link in the side bar and follow the directions for getting the RLI.jar file and creating an SSH tunnel to the ONL Central Resource Daemon.
• Read the following tutorial sections:
  • Overview (in detail)
  • The ONL Architecture (scan)
  • The Remote Laboratory Interface (in detail)
